This experience is a truly special occasion. You will have the opportunity not only fly but perform aerobatics yourself in a real WW2 biplane. Our aircraft served at the famous Tuskegee base during the second world war. You will experience what it was like to learn to fly during the 1940s under the instruction of an experienced aerobatic Instructor.
After a pre flight inspection and briefing you will be strapped in and familiarised with the controls of the PT-17 . After all pre-takeoff actions are complete your instructor will get you airborne and shortly after hand over control to you. YOU ARE NOW FLYING A REAL WW2 AIRPLANE! You will be instructed in basic handling, learning to turn, climb and descent.
Once you have picked up the basics your instructor will demonstrate and then talk you through how to perform the Loop. While YOU are looping the Stearman you will experience 3-4 ‘G’ as you enjoy the sights and sounds this special aircraft affords. If you are doing well and time permits your instructor will show you what the airplane can do in an aerobatic demonstration of classic barnstorming manoeuvres. Enroute back to base you will take in the Illawarra scenery and your Instructor will land the aircraft and taxi back to the apron. On completion you will be awarded your Gold Wings Certificate.
